Hop on our Electro-Bikes (electric power-assisted bike) for a journey filled with wonderful discoveries. Renowned for its lush nature, sweeping views and world-famous tourist attraction, the small village of Chamarel has a lot to offer. The journey begins with a steaming cup of coffee at Le Chamarel restaurant, known for its distinctive Creole cuisine and authentic local flavours as well as for its panoramic view over a breathtaking mountainous landscape.

You will then visit one of the most beautiful distilleries of the island, that also showcases the rum-making process. You will ride towards the village of Chamarel, through coffee plantations and pass by the famous waterfall, until you reach one of the most popular attraction of the island, the Seven Coloured Earths, also home to some ancient tortoises.

Riding down the Fantaisie mountain you will reach the charming little village of Baie du Cap, where you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant boasting a beautiful view over the lagoon. After a scrumptious meal, you will continue along the scenic coastal route and visit a few historical sites before you reach Bel Ombre. There, you will go back in time as you visit the majestic Château de Bel Ombre, an elegant 19th-century colonial estate. The excursion will end at Bel Ombre Sugar Estate.

  • Cycling half day Chamarel to Bel Ombre
A very well organised half day e-bike ride, along the magnificent scenery of south Mauritius. Excellent safety instructions from our enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. The starting point is at Le Chamarel restaurant, which has amazing views over the south, the beaches and the sea. The roads are quiet and of good quality, leading through lush green forests and plantations (sugar cane, banana and pineapple). The ride through the sugar cane plantation is off road and very rewarding. There is enough time for stops, photos and taking in the scenery and panoramic views. Our guide took loads of photos too and sent them to us. It was quite an experience to try out an e-bike, but I still prefer riding a road bike. A wonderful activity in a fabulous part of Mauritius!

We did two tours, one was Bel Ombr- Chamarel and one was Grand Port, it´s a great way to discover more of Mauritius than only the beaches, the guide was competent and caring, we will keep it in mind as one of the highlights on our trip.
